Accupunture

What is acupuncture?
Acupuncture is the practice of inserting a needle to various parts of the body, then use the hand or an electric stimulator to stimulate the needle and increase its effectiveness. The nedles are left in the body for about 30-45 minutes. The main purposes of acupuncture are to: 1. stimulate blood circulation and airflow, 2. adjust various organs to their state of equilibrium, and 3. boost the immune system and increase muscle relaxation.

Which areas in our body can we have acupuncture?
Acupuncture can be done in any part of the body, from head to toe. The doctor will insert the needles in various points following the meridian, the energy flow, of our body. The doctor will select the points suitable to treat the patient’s concerns.

How can Acupuncture help each part of the body?
First, the doctor will assess the patient’s condition. For patients who are concerned with beauty issues- acnes, blemishes, dullness, the doctor will insert needles in the face to allow proper and better blood flow into the area and stimulate collagen production, and along the limbs to balance the blood flow. For patients with medical concerns, the needles can be inserted to any parts of the their body. The doctor will choose the correct points for each patient’s condition. For patients who want to lose weight, the doctor will focus the needles on their abdomen and limbs to stimulate the digestive system and metabolism. And, for those who are suffering from body pain, the doctor will insert the needles on the area of concern and use the electric stimulator to relieve muscle contraction and facilitate better blood circulation in the area until the pain diminishes.

After acupuncture, will there be immediate results?
Acupuncture is a time-consuming and continuous treatment. Upon the initial treatment, patients will feel 10% better, and it can continue to improve up to 100%, but it will take a long time for treatment process.

Is the needle insertion painful?
There might be a bit of pain, like an ant bite, but it does not hurt as much as injection. The needles used are very thin, only 0.25mm, which is very small compared to injection needles.

How should we take care of ourselves after Acupuncture?
After acupuncture, patients should drink warm water. Avoid bathing, especially with cold water, for 2 hours after the procedure because it will disrupt the good blood circulation and airflow. Some patients might experience fatigue and muscle aches after the acupuncture. They can take pain relievers to ease the pain, but these symptoms will disappear after sleeping. Acupuncture can be done in combination with other ongoing treatments such as physiotherapy and medications.

Acupuncture should be a continuous course to get the best treatment results
Acupuncture can be used to treat various health and beauty issues with the following courses:
1. Beauty
   – Face
Acupuncture will stimulate the capillaries in the face to slightly expand for improved blood circulation. This will provide better nutrients to the cells, more oxygenation, and faster elimination of
waste. It also aids in more collagen production. The needles will be inserted in various points in the face, and left on for 45 minutes.
   – Acne
In traditional Chinese medicine, acne is caused by heat accumulation in the body. Acupuncture will, therefore, drive excessive heat out of the body. As the body becomes more balanced, the acne
will gradually decrease until it resolves completely, along with proper facial care. In addition, facial acupuncture improves blood supply into the skin, providing better cellular oxygenation and waste excretion,
and more collagen production. You can see your face become clearer from acne and blemishes. The needles will be inserted in various points in the face, and left on for 45 minutes.
   – Abnormal Pigmentation
In traditional Chinese medicine, Melasma can be due to a variety of causes such as abnormal heat build up in the body. Extreme emotions also affect the circulatory system and meridian system(energy) of the body, resulting to poor blood circulation. When the circulation towards the face is not good, it causes dullness and melasma. Acupuncture will drive the heat off from the body and enhance blood circulation in the face to bring balance. The face will look clearer and brighter from the good oxygen supply, faster waste removal, and improved collagen formation. The needles will be inserted in various points in the face, and left on for 45 minutes.

2. Acupuncture for body firming and metabolism improvement
Acupuncture will help balance the thyroid gland, adrenal gland, and stimulate body energy for metabolism. By helping the liver and kidneys to work effectively, it increases metabolism and makes the digestive system work better. The doctor will diagnose the patient’s physical condition, and insert the needles at the points specific to treat the patient’s needs and leave them on for 45 minutes with an electric stimulator. The use of electric stimulator can help dissolve stomach fat and reduce waist size.
3. Various Body pains and Aches
   – Office Syndrome
Office Syndrome is a symptom that occurs when one works repeatedly for over 6-8 hours period, causing muscles to tighten repetitively. The constant over-contraction of muscles prevents the blood vessels to bring good blood supply into the muscles, causing cellular deficiency and breakdown which you can feel as muscle pain and weakness. Acupuncture will increase the blood circulation in the affected areas, giving more blood supply. These symptoms often occur in different parts because cell deficiency affects various areas. Once the needles are inserted in these points, the muscle will return to normal and become stronger around 3-5 days after the treatment. If the problem is chronic, it may take longer. Along with the needles, electric stimulator will be used for 30 minutes with cupping to allow the muscles to relax.
   – Knee Pain
Knee pain can be caused by several reasons, such as knee degeneration that is often found in older people, and excessive use or misuse. Acupuncture on the knee will stimulate and repair the worn parts and improve its overall condition, reducing inflammation, relieving pain, and reducing friction. The needles are inserted and left on with electric stimulator for 30 minutes.
   – Lumbago
Lumbago can be caused by a variety of reasons, such as herniated disc and nerve disorders. Patients will experience pain and numbing on their legs. With acupuncture, the needles are inserted in the waist area, and help the muscles relax. It will facilitate blood circulation to the painful area, relieving the patient from pain. The needles are inserted and left on with electric stimulator with cupping for 30 minutes to relax the muscles.
4. Adjust Body Balance
   – Insomnia
The traditional Chinese medicine views the body holistically- its internal environment such as our body organs, and its external environment such as weather conditions and social environment. Chinese medicine, considers insomnia to be a multi-factorial problem. These factors may be prolonged accumulation of stress causing liver and kidney imbalances, excessive heat build up disturbing the cardiac function, or poor blood circulation providing less nourishment to the cells- all these may cause lack of sleep. Chinese medicine doctors must first diagnose the patient and determine the cause/causes. Once diagnosed, the doctor will start the acupuncture and insert the needles at various points to bring balance to the body. The needles will be left on for 30-45 minutes.
   – Allergy
Allergic reactions, in Chinese medicine, is caused by the body’s lack of energy to protect itself whenever foreign objects enter it. Acupuncture will help by increasing the body energy and by nourishing various organs to become strong to encounter any foreign objects that enter the body. The acupuncture will last for 30-45.

In addition to Acupuncture we also have Cupping
What is Cupping? Cupping is a treatment which uses glasses to cover an area and act as a vacuum by using a small fire. It will cover the meridian line of both sides of the back, or cover the muscles that need to be treated to reduce muscle spasms.
The benefits of Cupping are:
1. Reduce muscle spasm and relieve pain
2. Increase blood circulation and meridian lines(energy)
3. Improve the body’s immunity
4. Improve the performance of the nervous system and help relax the muscles
*Caution: Cupping cannot be done for pregnant women, and patients with metastatic cancer, bone fracture, venous thrombosis, or areas where there are wounds.
